I think Johnny Mcfall originally went to VT. DR Mullins from Clintwood went to UNC.

Wasn't Rogers of Gate City LPD when he played? I'm sure he played D1? Where?
    Palmer went to Liberty.
Phil Rogers played at Tech. GC was in the SWD when he graduated in '72.

no, he's probably talkin' about "Big" Steve Fleming...Clintwood lineman early-mid 80's. went to Wake Forest. also, off Clintwood's 1975 state champ team, three players went D1...RB Johnny McFall went to Virginia Tech (later transferred to ETSU), DB D.R. Mullins went to North Carolina, and OL/DL Yogi Mooney went to N.C. State. three D1's from one team...don't think that's happened since in the LPD.

a fun fact...the year those boys were deciding on their schools, Lou Holtz was the the guest speaker at Clintwood's athletic banquet. he was head coach at N.C. State at the time.

Didn't David Mitchell from Coeburn play baseball at Tennessee?

Sounds right. Barry Hamler played basketball at Marshall and Robert Spears at ETSU.

    Steve Fleming was it.

PV had two D1's twice, not sure about a third though. Josh Warren - Thomas Jones and then Julius Jones - Shea Chapman. If they had a third D1 either year I can't recall them.

David Mitchell actually played basketball and baseball at UT. I don't know if he ever played in a varsity basketball game, freshmen couldn't compete at the time, but I do remember seeing him and the other JV players sitting behind the bench during UT games.

Can't believe Charlie Beverly isn't on this thread. One of the best pitchers we've ever seen-went to FSU/UNC

Josh graduated with Julius, so that actually would be 3 D1s on the same team. I didnt realize Shea had originally went to GT til this thread started.
